Women’s scholarship
Mountlake Terrace High School senior Azzreal Pugh was recently named as one of the recipients of the Women’s University Club merit scholarship winners.
Pugh received the $2,000 scholarship during a ceremony at the Women’s University Club May 15.
Nominated by a high school counselor, Pugh was recommended as a “promising young woman … with a record of public service and demonstrated leadership,” officials said, and plans to attend Seattle University to study science.
Graduation is just around the corner
Graduation dates for the Edmonds School District are as follows:
• Mountlake Terrace HS: 6:30 p.m. on Friday, June 13 at Edmonds Stadium
• Edmonds-Woodway HS: 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 14 at Edmonds Stadium
• Meadowdale HS: 5 p.m. on Sunday, June 15 at Edmonds Stadium
• Edmonds Community College: 7:30 p.m. on Friday, June 13, at Seaview Hall.
MTHS students are scholars
Mountlake Terrace High School students Matthew Hinrichs, John Moore and Azzreal Pugh were each recently awarded a $5,000 Provost’s Scholar Award from Seattle Pacific University. Student Stephanie Johnsrud, also of Mountlake Terrace High School, received the SPU President Scholar Award of $6,500.
These awards recognize students who have “excelled academically and have demonstrated potential leadership and service through contributions to church, school and community.”
The scholarships are renewable for consecutive years as long as the students continue to have academic success, officials said.
Ed-WW student is recognized leader
Edmonds-Woodway High School student Catherine Bailey was recently chosen as one of 400 high school students to attend the national Young Leaders Conference (NYLC) June 23 to July 3 in Washington D.C.
The program is designed to encourage students who have shown leadership skills and academic skills to continue their success in the future.
Students at the conference will meet Washington state and international elected and political officials and news makers.
Newspaper jobs available in fall
Edmonds Community College’s student newspaper, “The Review,” is looking for students who would be interested in working for the publication this fall.
Staff will be looking to fill several positions including editor-in-chief, copy editor, photographer and section editor.
Graduating high-school students with journalism experience who plan to attend Edmonds Community College are encouraged to apply.
