New principal for Ridgecrest Elem.
Bruce Titcomb has been named the new principal of Ridgecrest Elementary School.
Titcomb has served as the interim principal since May 2002, and has worked as an administrative intern at the school. He was also a Ridgecrest teacher for 11 years teaching first and fourth grades.
New principal for Highland Terrace
Miriam Tencate has been named the new principal of Highland Terrace Elementary School.
Tencate has served as interim principal since September 2002, and was an assistant principal at Shorecrest High School since 1999. She also taught special education at Shorecrest for three years and served as Shorecrest’s special education department chair for four years.
Make reservations for family night
Meridian Park School is hosting a family storytelling night and spaghetti dinner at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, April 2.
Artist in Residence, David Horsley, will tell stories from the Snoqualmie Native American tradition and third graders will sing songs in the Snoqualmie language. Spaghetti from Spiro’s Restaurant will be served at 6 and storytelling will begin at 7. Suggested donation is $2 per adult and $1 per child to help cover the cost of food. The first 100 families will receive a free book.

PTA scholarship forms available
Scholarship applications are available for Shorecrest and Shorewood high school seniors from the Shoreline PTA Council.
The $500 awards will be presented to one soon-to-be graduate at Shorecrest and one at Shorewood. Winners will be selected in a drawing at the Shoreline PTA Council’s April 28 meeting.
To be eligible for the scholarship, candidates must have a 2.5 grade point average and plan to attend a university, college or technical school in fall 2003.
Application forms can be obtained in each school’s career center. Deadline for submission is April 25.
Auction benefits Room Nine
The Shaia Tribe Wild Tribal Belly Dance will be performing at a benefit to raise money for the Room Nine Program at 8 p.m. (the auction begins at 6 p.m.) March 29 at the Shoreline Community Center Main Campus PUB, 16101 Greenwood Avenue N. in Shoreline.
The auction will raise money to pay for environmental camp, attendance to The Seattle Children’s Theatre and other local arts programs, special guest speakers, and additional classroom supplies.

Foundation hosts
community lunch
The Shoreline Public Schools Foundation invites the community to join them at the annual community breakfast and luncheon, “Banking on Education.” Breakfast will be held from 7-8:30 a.m. and the luncheon will be offered from noon-1:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 3 in the Shoreline Room of the Shoreline Center, 18560 First Ave. NE, Shoreline.
