Theater arts college scholarship

The Edmonds Driftwood Players are offering award scholarships of $1,000 or more to several 2003 high school graduates who live in or attend school in the South Snohomish or North King County school district areas.

Interested students must submit an application demonstrating talent in performance or technical theater arts and intend to continue studying theater arts in college. Students will be selected based on their applications and a personal interview.

To request an application, call 425-774-9600. The deadline for submission is April 19.

Get hired at the EdCC career fair

Edmonds Community College and Central Washington University will host a Career Fair from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on May 8 in Triton Union Building 202 at the college, 20000 68th Ave. W., Lynnwood.

More than 40 employers offering jobs in a variety of fields will be at the fair. In addition, to help those looking for work improve their chances of getting hired, Edmonds Community College is offering free resume critiques and job search workshops prior to the fair.

Resume critique sessions will be from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. on April 24, May 1 and May 5 in the Snohomish Hall Lobby. Get Hired: Career Fair Preparation Day workshops will be from 11 a.m.-3:30 p.m., April 29 in Triton Union Building 202.

EdCC awards exceptional faculty

Walt Bubelis and Chandler Clifton have been chosen as the 2002-2003 recipients of Edmonds Community College’s Echelbarger-Sherman Exceptional Faculty Award. They were chosen based on their “exceptional service to students and for their dedication, expertise and outstanding teaching abilities,” officials said. Bubelis and Clifton were honored at a ceremony in March.

Parents invited to survey meeting

A meeting will be held regarding the results from the Washington State Healthy Youth Survey from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. on Wed., April 2 in the Great Hall at Meadowdale High School, 6002 168th St. SW. Community members, parents and students are invited.

The statewide survey was done in the district in the fall of 2002, and is aimed at identifying youth health issues and behavior risks.
