EvCC scholars to be honored
Everett Community College students Thao Wild and Renee Roberts have been selected as the 2003 Washington State Scholars.
Wild and Roberts will be honored at reception in the Student Union Building on the South Puget Sound Community College campus in Olympia. Gov. Gary Locke will be on hand to congratulate the 65 Washington Scholars. Each scholar will also receive a $250 scholarship provided by a KeyBank $17,000 donation.
ACT exam deadline
The next nationwide test date for high school students who want to take the ACT Assessment is April 12. The registration postmark deadline is March 7. Late registration postmark deadline is March 21. For more information and sample tests, go to www.act.org.
Prelude to a Kiss to be at EvCC
Everett Community College students will be performing “Prelude to a Kiss” as a full-length production at 7 p.m. March 5-7, and at 2 p.m. March 8 in Baker Hall Auditorium Room 120.

An out-of-this-world experience
Former astronaut George “Pinky” Nelson will lead a journey into space science for students in grades 3-8 at Western Washington University’s “Sleeping Over with Science” from 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 28 to 7 a.m. Saturday, March 1 in the Science, Mathematics and Technology Education (SMATE) building on campus.
In addition to a discussion with Nelson, students will create “alien life forms,” build spacecraft and experiment with cosmic rays, gravity, vacuums and temperature. A science movie will also be shown before lights out.
The $50 per student fee covers instruction, overnight supervision, materials, snacks and continental breakfast. Students should bring a sleeping bag and pillow, toothbrush and toothpaste, jacket and backpack. A camping mattress is optional.

UW Bothell and charity project
This month, more than three dozen UW Bothell business school students are teaming up with Rebuilding Together Seattle, to renovate the home of a local Kirkland resident.
About 40 MBA students are involved in the renovation project, which involves planning and organizing construction tasks to clean and upgrade the home. The residence needs interior and exterior cleaning, flooring replacement, electrical upgrades, painting, a new roof and yard work.
So far, the project has raised $700 toward the initial goal of $2,500.
