Scots’ Bracht fifth at state

Seven Shoreline-area golfers competed at the state tournaments held in Spokane last week.

Bracht takes fifth

Shorecrest sophomore Jens Bracht finished in a tie for fifth in the state 3A boys golf tournament May 23-24 at Indian Canyon Golf Course in Spokane.

Bracht shot an even-par 72 on the first day and a 71 on the second day to finish with a 36-hole score of 143 for the tournament.

Teammate Avi Singh shot an 85 on the first day of the tournament and missed the cut, which was 76.

Joel Dahmen of Clarkston won the title with a seven-under par score of 137.

McDonald 11th at state

Shorewood freshman Ricky McDonald tied for 11th at the state 4A boys golf tournament May 23-24 at the Creek at Qualchan Golf Course in Spokane.

McDonald shot two-over par 74s both days to finish with a 36-hole score of 148.

Nick Ellis of Eastmont won the title with a six-under par score of 138.

Lyon third at state; King’s girls second

King’s senior Katie Lyon placed third in the state 2A girls golf tournament May 23-34 at Downriver Golf Course in Spokane.

Lyon and senior teammate Kristin Sawtell, who tied for 13th, combined for 27 team points, a mere half-point behind team-title winner Woodland, which had 27.5 points.

Lyon shot a 15-over par 86 the first day and an 85 the second day for a combined total of 171. Sawtell shot 92s both days for a 42-over par total of 184.

Kimberly Schutte of Othello shot an 11-over 153 to win the tournament.

Neely ties for fourth at state

King’s Jeff Neely shot a five-over par, 36-hole total of 147 to tie for fourth at the 2A state boys golf tournament held May 23-24 at Downriver Golf Course in Spokane.

Neely shot a one-over par 72 the first day and a 75 the second day.

Gaston De La Torre of Hockinson won the title with a score of 141.

Walsh makes cut at state

Shorewood senior Staci Walsh made the cut at the state 4A girls golf tournament May 23-24 at Hangman Valley Golf Course in Spokane.

Walsh shot a 14-over par 85 the first day and a 93 the second day for a total of 178. She finished 43rd overall.

Sadena Parks of Bethel won the title with a five-over par 147.
