SHORELINE — The Shorecrest boys soccer team broke out of its scoring slump with a 7-0 rout of Lynnwood Monday night at Shoreline Stadium.

Sophomore forward Spencer Schrote netted his first two goals of the season and goalkeepers Rylan Hawkins and Elan Wright combined for Shorecrest’s sixth shutout in the Wesco 4A South Division contest.

Jeff Keeton, Taylor Starkey and John Rohrback also scored for the Scots, who had registered just one goal in each of their four previous outings.

After closing out their non-conference schedule with three consecutive 1-0 wins, the Scots fell to Mariner 3-1 in the league opener for both teams April 9.

“We’ve been working real hard since the Mariner loss,” Starkey said. “That was a reality check.”

The Lynnwood game marked the first action in three weeks for Schrote, who was sidelined due to a contusion on top of his foot. A few other starters have also been nursing various ailments.

“We’ve got to get our team back together,” Scots coach Teddy Mitalas said. “At the start of the season we were set and then some injuries happened.”
