Sen. Paull Shin, D-Edmonds, was honored with the Joint Government Affairs Committee’s (JGAC) Business Champion Award on June 3.
The Everett Area, South Snohomish County and Monroe chambers of commerce recognized Shin at the 2009 Legislative Recognition Breakfast at the Everett Golf &Country Club.
“Economic development is one area I focus on in Olympia,” Shin said in a press release. “I believe it is important to support legislation that encourages international trade and equally (support) bills that help locally focused business. Washington has such a diverse business climate, the possibilities are endless.”
Shin scored 100 percent on the chambers’ annual legislative scorecard for his work during the 2009 legislative session. The JGAC tracks the activity of key business bills in Olympia. At the session’s conclusion, the JGAC develops a scorecard for Snohomish County lawmakers based on their votes on those bills. Legislators who vote in favor of JGAC’s position on bills a majority of the time are recognized as business champions.
