Wooden O Theatre Productions brings their staging of Shakespeare’s “Twelfth Night” to the outdoor setting of Richmond Beach Community Park at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 3.
Wooden O’s productions are innovative in their approach, yet designed to be true to the classic, poetic nature of the text so they appeal to a wide range of audiences. “Twelfth Night,” one of Shakespeare’s best loved comedies, represents a night of misrule when zany romances and foolish games are encouraged. Reason takes flight and chaos reigns. Love finds itself in all forms: sick in love, tricked in love, lost in love and found in love. Twins, brother and sister, are parted at sea during a terrible storm. Sister Viola washes ashore in Illyria, and disguised as a gentleman, she joins the court of Duke Orsino. Her first assignment is to woo the heart of Countess Olivia for her new master. Songs, dances, forged love letters, phony duels and fancy fools add to the hilarity of this classic comedy.
The performance, part of the free Concerts in the Parks series sponsored by Shoreline-Lake Forest Arts Council, takes place at Richmond Beach Community Park, located at Richmond Beach Road and 21st Avenue NW in Shoreline. For more details call 206 417-4645 or visit www.shorelinearts.net.
