Shoreline Police arrested a male suspect on Fremont Avenue North on May 27 after a search of his residence produced over 150 marijuana plants and more than 17 pounds of processed marijuana.
“When we served the warrant he wasn’t there,” sergeant Diana Neff said. “But he started to drive by the residence and patrol cars stopped him as he tried to drive away.”
Shoreline officers first received a tip about drug activity on the 17800 block of Fremont Avenue North last summer but were unable to pinpoint where the actions were taking place. In April, a patrol officer who was driving down Fremont Avenue North smelled marijuana and was able to narrow the search down to two residences, Neff said.
When a warrant was served, police discovered the plants, marijuana, firearms and other drug paraphernalia on the property. According to Neff, the location of the residence is within 1,000 feet of a school zone and the proximity to a school could enhance a sentence if the homeowner is charged with a crime.
“This is probably the eighth or ninth marijuana search warrant served within the last year for homes in Shoreline.” Neff said.
“It’s more prevalent then you may think.”
