Shorewood rolled its way to 10th place at the 39th annual Washington State Bowling Proprietors Association high school bowling championships March 1-2 at Pacific Lanes in Tacoma.
Heading into the 28-team tournament the Thunderbirds were seeded 14th in Division A. Shorewood moved up as high as ninth over the course of the 10-game, two-day scratch team competition.
Making their first state appearance since 2000, the T-birds improved their team average of 908 at the start of the tournament to 942.
High games for Shorewood at state included: senior Michael Woods, 267; senior James Lund, 245; Shorecrest freshman Ben Kreins, 235; sophomore Galen Lundquist, 234; junior Stephen Curtis, 225; and Sam Flanigan, 222.
Statewide, roughly 250 boys and girls teams competed during the 2002-03 season.
