Shorewood High School presents plays
Shorewood High School will present a festival of short plays 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 5 and Friday, Feb. 6 in the theater at the school.
Five plays, four written by students, will be performed each evening. The plays will be judged by theater professionals.
The winners in directing, writing and acting will be announced on Friday night after the last performance.
Shorewood choir prepares for NYC
The Shorewood High School choir will perform at Carnegie Hall and Apollo Theater in New York City as part of the Carnegie Hall National High School Choral festival March 17-22.
Dr. Craig Jessop, renowned choir director, rehearsed with the choir Jan. 26. Jessop was director of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir from 1999 to 2008.

Awards for Shorewood DECA
Shorewood High School students participated in the recent Area 2 DECA Conference.
These students have advanced to the State Career Development Conference to be held in Bellevue March 5-7:

Students named to All-State Orchestras
Shorecrest and Shorewood student musicians were recently named to the All-State and All-Northwest Orchestra, Band and Choir.
The Shorecrest students named to All-State are: Anna Mines, trumpet; Berit Anderson, flute; Antonia Chandler, french horn; Daniel Baker, trombone; Declan Sullivan, percussion; Jason Zhu, clarinet; Thomas Gibson, trombone; Todd Matsunami, euphonium, Emily Webb, violin and Amy Glaskova, viola.
The Shorewood students named to All-State are: Grady McDonald, trumpet; Jackie Lykstad, flute;, Laura Rohrer, viola; Lilly Adams, clarinet;, Natasha Hansen-Day, cello; Julia Hayes, viola; Maggie Boone, viola; Meghan Stavig, soprano; Evan Strandberg, trombone; Amy Leang, violin; Molly Tourtelot, cello; Jack Lu, violin; Ashley Greyell, string bass and Erin Melgard, bassoon.
The Shorecrest student named to All-Northwest is Maxwell Reikosky, trumpet.
The Shorewood students named to All-Northwest are Tori Lewis, trombone; Tobin Schindler, cello; Carly Backman, trombone and Alex Brock, clarinet.
The groups will perform in Spokane in February as part of the Northwest Music Educators Conference.
