EDMONDS — A man with no fixed address was arrested in connection with the stabbing in the throat and shooting in the leg of another man early Sunday, May 27.

The suspect, 23, was in the Snohomish County Jail on Tuesday, May 29, for investigation of attempted first-degree murder.

The incident occurred just after midnight Sunday in the 16100 block of 75th Place West, Edmonds police Sgt. Don Anderson said.

Police responded to the sounds of gunshots and screams. They found a Redmond man, 53, bleeding from the throat and leg, according to court documents.

The victim was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, the documents said. He later told police he was a passenger in his own car, had fallen asleep and woke up when his friend of many years stabbed him, the documents said.

The wounded man tried to flee but his friend got out of the car and fired five or six shots, hitting him in the leg, according to the documents.

The wounded man told police he believed the only motive for the attack might be that his friend wanted his car, a red 1990 Cadillac Seville, the documents said.

Edmonds police shared information about the car with neighboring law enforcement agencies.

Seattle police later Sunday arrested the suspect while he was vacuuming and shampooing the Cadillac at a car wash.

The man denied responsibility for the attack, the papers said.

The wounded man was recovering in stable condition, Anderson said.
