Hot Brazilian sounds will warm the autumn night when Show Brazil! takes the stage Nov. 19 for an evening of music and dance at Shoreline Unitarian Universalist Church.
Show Brazil! plays traditional and contemporary Brazilian music, and features Brazilian dance. Show Brazil! has performed throughout the United States, Canada and Brazil. Band leader and director Eduardo Mendonca is a native of Salvador, Bahia, Brazil, has performed for Pope John Paul II, Nelson Mandela and Brazilian president Joao Baptista Fiqueiredo, and was featured in a Paul Simon documentary in 1991. Show Brazil! also features Brian Kent (sax and flute), Burt Boice (bass), Denny Stern (drums), Dora Oliveira and Bianca Mendonça (dance and back vocals). Special guest performance by City Cantabile Choir.
Show Brazil! performs as part of SUUC’s Full Moon Concert Series. The concert benefits charities helping coffee pickers and their families, and local Brazilian non-profit organizations.
