The Sno-King Community Chorale Holiday Concert Dec. 16 celebrates the group’s premiere season onstage in its new home, the Edmonds Center for the Arts.

Under the direction of Frank DeMiero, the concert will feature traditional seasonal music, plus a presentation of a new musical, “The Magic of Music,” written by Debra DeMiero.

Members of the Chorale recently returned from their first tour abroad, which featured six performances in Italy, including Venice, Padua, Assisi, Florence and Rome. “It was an unforgettable experience,” says soprano Diane Jackson, who was a featured soloist in one of the group’s numbers, “Did I Hear My Lord?”

“We received such a wonderful, warm reception everywhere we went,” adds Michael Cory, whose parents joined him on the tour and had a tearful meeting with relatives from Milan whom they had never met. “It certainly whet the appetite of the Chorale to do more touring in the future.”

Additional concerts scheduled are the Concert for Children (Of All Ages) Feb. 10; Haydn’s “Mass in Time of War,” with guests the Bravo Chorale from Vancouver, Wash., March 17; and the annual Pops Concert June 16, featuring the music of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “South Pacific.”

The Sno-King Community Chorale is a program of Edmonds Community College. Enrollment for Winter Quarter is underway. Singles are $91.50 per quarter; couples, $155, which includes all music. There are no auditions. Rehearsals are held 7:05-9:30 p.m. Tuesdays in Mill Creek Hall, Room 109, Edmonds Community College.
