Republicans in the 1st Legislative District have endorsed Sandy Guinn in her challenge to incumbent Democratic State Rep. Derek Stanford.
Guinn, fellow Republican Brian Travis and Democrat Greg Rankich are challenging Stanford in the Aug. 7 primary, with the top two vote-getters advancing to the Nov. 6 general election regardless of party.
Snohomish County 1st District Chairman John Bush said Tuesday that Republican precinct committee officers in the Snohomish County part of the district had voted by e-mail and given unanimous support to Guinn.
The group earlier had endorsed state Senate candidate Dawn McCravey and write-in candidate Mark Davies against incumbent State Rep. Luis Moscoso, but had lacked a quorum at the meeting at which Guinn spoke to the group.
The King County 1st District Republicans already had endorsed McCravey, Davies and Guinn.
The Snohomish County part of the district includes most of Mountlake Terrace, all of Brier, the Snohomish County part of Bothell and unincorporated areas north and east of Bothell.
The King County part of the district includes parts of Bothell and Kirkland, and unincorporated areas between Bothell and Kirkland.
McCravey and Democrat Guy Palumbo are challenging incumbent Democratic state Sen. Rosemary McAuliffe. Davies has announced an unregistered write-in campaign against unopposed Democratic Rep. Moscoso.
