Edmonds received 2.22 inches of rain in 22 hours, according to city officials.

Edmonds Public Works and Utilities director Phil Williams said that amount of rain would be approximately a five-year storm event for the city, meaning Edmonds might see an equivalent or larger storm event only once every 5 years on average.

The city did not experience major problems, Williams said.

There were high water levels at Lake Ballinger, which are slowly receding. There was also standing water on State Route 104 at Dayton, and Dayton between SR 104 and Railroad Avenue was closed until approximately 7:30 p.m. Dec. 12. A Lynnwood sewer line in 76th Avenue north of Perrinville overflowed, sending untreated sewage into Perrinville Creek; that subsided by 11:30 am. and the residue was cleaned up by Lynnwood sewer crews later in the day.

There was also a storm line surcharge on Talbott Drive, which sent some flow toward a residential garage. This surcharge was sandbagged quickly, Williams said.

Edmonds provided approximately 1,000 sandbags to residents and provided approximately another 1,000 bags to Lake Forest Park, which was fighting against high water in McAleer Creek, Williams said.
