Summit on sustainability
Concerned citizens who live and/or work in Bothell, Kenmore, Woodinville or Mill Creek are invited to join civic, business, faith-based and educational leaders June 18 in a conversation aimed at developing local strategies to create a sustainable community.

Salsa dance party
The Latino Educational Training Institute is hosting a salsa party from 1-5 p.m., June 19 at St. Thomas More Parish, 6511 176th SW, Lynnwood. The event will provide a chance to network and raise money for the Youth Leadership Project.

‘Healing Kits’
Local families can help kids in Haiti who are suffering by creating Kids’ Healing Kits. Families can fill grocery bags with essential toiletries, school supplies and toys to help comfort children in Haiti whose lives were devastated by the January earthquake.
Volunteers will deliver empty grocery bags to homes in South Snohomish County, primarily in the Mill Creek area. The bags will include a list of items to fill each Kids’ Healing Kit. Families can shop for the items, then place the filled bag on their doorstep before 10 a.m. on June 19, when volunteers will return to pick them up.

82nd Airborne Division
The 82nd Airborne Division is looking for veterans who have passed through the Division in the past 66 years. The 82nd Airborne Division has served in Afghanistan and Iraq for the past few years and will return for another tour of duty. The Division has 100 civilian chapters across the country. The 34,000 members hold regular meetings, picnics, dances, reunions, parades and an annual convention. Combat is not a requirement. • The Teen Summer Reading Program is running now until Aug. 27. Teen ages 12-18 are encouraged to submit online reviews of their summer reads for a chance to win a $10 gift card to a local business. Driving refresher course
The AAA Driver Improvement Program is accepting reservations for its refresher course on defensive driving skills. The class is from 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m., June 26 at Edmonds Community College, 20000 68th Ave. W, Lynnwood. Cost is $16 per person.The course gives practical guidance for traffic accident prevention and enhances driver safety and confidence. Successful course completion qualifies drivers 55 years of age and over for automobile insurance premium discounts.
