• Drop-In Grief support group: Group meets on the first and third Tuesday of each month from 2:30-4 p.m.

• Pre-diabetes/Glucose Intolerance/Metabolic Syndrome: Class focuses on individuals with pre diabetes or those who are at risk for developing diabetes.

• HeartSaver CPR: This class will cover adult, child and infant CPR, choking and use of an automated external defibrillator (AED).

• Pediatric HeartSaver CPR &First Aid: Learn CPR techniques, how to apply first aid during medical and environmental emergencies and how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED).

Good balance key for older adults

Stevens Hospital will be presenting a free balance workshop, “Steady on Your Feet,” from 1:30-2:30 p.m. May 28 at the Dale Turner Family YMCA.

“Steady on Your Feet” is a fall prevention class that discusses the risk factors and consequences for falls. There will be information on home safety, adaptive equipment and simple exercises for decreasing the likelihood of experiencing a fall.

MLT Parks Cleanup Day

The MLT Parks Cleanup Day is from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. May 15 at the Terrace Park school parking lot, 5409 228th St. SW.

Families, friends and neighbors are invited to help clean up the parks and public spaces in the city. Wear comfortable work clothes and bring gloves and tools. Groups should contact Parks and Facilities Superintendent Ken Courtmanch at 425-776-1811 to register in advance. Following the work party, the City Council will host a barbecue for volunteers.

NARFE-Sno-King Chapter 1966

The upcoming NARFE-Sno-King Chapter 1966 meeting is scheduled for May 20 at the Snohomish County PUD Auditorium, 21018 Highway 99, Lynnwood. The event will start with a social at 12:30 p.m.

Art, entertainment soiree

The Edmonds Arts Festival opening night party will be held on June 16 at Frances Anderson Center. This event is the annual fundraiser for the Edmonds Arts Festival Foundation and proceeds fund scholarships and grants for local artists.

Free computer classes at MLT Library

Registration is currently being accepted for a new computer class being offered at the MLT Library.

To be eligible for this class, students must have taken the Computer Basics I class or have mouse skills.

All classes are free but size is limited and pre-registration is required.

Bake sale to end childhood hunger

GenCare Lifestyle is having bake sale, as part of Share Our Strength’s Great American Bake Sale, a national campaign that mobilizes Americans to end childhood hunger by holding bake sales in their communities.

The bake sale is scheduled from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. May 22 at GenCare Lifestyle Lynnwood, 6024 200th St. SW, Lynnwood.

Spirit Award nominations

Honor an adult, youth and/or company who is actively volunteering to create a culture of community involvement and inspiring others to serve by nominating them for a Spirit Award from United Way. The organization is also accepting applications for the Reeves/Sievers’ Founders Award for a lifetime of service.

Winners will be honored at the Spirit of Snohomish County Breakfast Sept. 8 at the Tulalip Resort Casino.

Document Shred Day

The community is invited to shred personal documents from 10 a.m.–2:30 p.m., on May 15 at the Senior Services of Snohomish County Multicultural Senior Center, 11627 Airport Road, Everett. Food and beverages will be served.

Bring sensitive items to shred. Fraud protection workshops offered at 11 a.m., noon and 1 p.m. People will be available to review CMS Medicare Summary Notices for signs of fraud.

Lynnwood accepting scholarship applications

Applications are now being accepted by the Lynnwood Parks, Recreation &Cultural Arts Department for the Randy Terlicker Memorial Aquatics and Life Safety Scholarship.

‘Ask Your Legislator’ Forum slated

State lawmakers representing the 1st, 21st and 32nd state legislative districts will participate in an “Ask Your Legislator” Forum beginning at 7 p.m. May 17 at the Edmonds School District administration offices, 20420 68th Ave. W, Lynnwood.

CE volunteers needed

Jackson High School in Mill Creek is seeking volunteer panelists for high school senior presentations, called culminating exhibitions.

Sign up for Kamp Kookamunga

Registration is open for summer day camp programs provided by the Lynnwood Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Department.

Kamp Kookamunga runs from 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The weekly cost is $130. Extended care is available before and after the regular camp day. The weekly cost for morning or afternoon care is $35. This camp is for children entering first through seventh grades.

Camp We-Wanna-Go runs from noon-5:30 p.m. The weekly cost is $95. This camp is for children entering first through seventh grades.
