South Snohomish County voters joined voters around the state in approving a constitutional amendment on the Nov. 8 general election ballot that will force the Legislature to put more money into the state’s rainy day fund during good times to ensure money is available during hard economic times.

They approved it by a larger margin than the rest of the state, according to figures released by the Secretary of State’s Office on Tuesday.

Senate Joint Resolution 8206 passed by a statewide vote of 66 percent to 34 percent.

Voters in the 21st Legislative District — Lynnwood, Mukilteo, most of Edmonds and a small part of Mountlake Terrace — the Snohomish County portion of the 1st Legislative District — Brier, Mountlake Terrace, Bothell, a small part of Edmonds and areas east of Bothell — and the Snohomish County part of the 32nd District — Woodway, south Edmonds and nearby unincorporated areas — all approved the amendment by a 70 percent to 30 percent margin.

The countywide approval rate was 69 percent.
