Spillman captures 200, 500 frees

Edmonds-Woodway’s Sarah Spillman took first place in the 200- and 500-yard freestyles at last weekend’s Class 4A sectional meet at Kamiak High School.

Meadowdale’s Lisa Keane won the 100 butterfly and the 200 individual medley at Northwest District 3A swimming championships. Teammate Katie Atkinson won the 200 freestyle and qualified for state in the 100 backstroke by time.

The Mavericks 200 medley relay team also advanced to this week’s Class 3A state meet at the King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way.

Squalicum captured the Northwest District 3A title with 264 points, followed by Anacortes (195), Sehome (190), Meadowdale (153.5) and Shorecrest (144).
