Shoreline Christian girls win

Senior forward Colleen Woods scored 21 points to lead the Shoreline Christian girls basketball team to a 59-31 win over Mabton in the Seattle Christian Tournament championship Dec. 28 in Seattle.

Woods, the tournament’s most valuable player, made 7 of 13 shots in the final. Forward Julia DeKoekkoek scored 17 points and grabbed nine rebounds while point guard Ann Barrick had 10 steals, five assists, five rebounds, four points and no turnovers.

Woods scored 25 points, 12 on 3-pointers, and pulled down 13 rebounds as the Crusaders (8-0) held off Auburn-Mountainview 58-53 in the first round. DeKoekkoek chipped in with 23 points and 10 rebounds.

King’s girls fall in title game

Lodi High School in California beat the King’s girls basketball team 63-55 in overtime in the championship game of the Surf division of the Surf ‘N Slam Tournament in San Diego, Calif. Dec. 30.

Lodi rallied from a seven-point halftime deficit to tie the score at the end of regulation and then outscored the Knights (4-1) 13-5 in overtime.

Senior forward Danielle Clauson scored 21 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead King’s while teammate Bianca Rowland added a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds.

In the semifinals Dec. 29, King’s built a 24-8 lead in the first half and went on to beat Chugiak, Alaska 58-45. King’s held Chugiak to 19 percent shooting from the floor in the first half. Rowland led the Knights with 17 points while Clauson added 16.

King’s jumped out to an early lead against Redwood Christian in a 56-21 first-round win Dec. 27. Clauson paced the Knights with 17 points and Rowland chipped in with 12.

King’s boys win pair in Yakima

The King’s boys basketball team, ranked No. 1 in Class 1A by WashingtonPreps.com, ran its record to 5-0 with wins over Zillah Dec. 29 and Hockinson Dec. 30 at the Yakima SunDome.

The Knights buried Zillah 52-35 behind center Charlie Enquist’s 17 points. King’s jumped out to a 19-point first half lead and cruised to the nonleague win.

King’s Erich Fuhlendorf hit a 3-pointer with 44 seconds left in regulation to force overtime against Hockinson. The Knights started the overtime on an 8-0 run and went on to win 60-51. Fuhlendorf led the Knights with 16 points and Enquist added 15.

Shorecrest girls get first win

The Shorecrest girls basketball team lost to Oak Harbor 47-35 in the title game of the Oak Harbor Santa Slam Dec. 29 but did get its first win of the season in the first round of the tournament over Burlington-Edison.

The Scots beat the Tigers 44-40 Dec. 28 behind Jocelyn Riordan’s game-high 14 points. The Scots are now 1-7 on the season.

Tahoma buries Shorewood boys

Tahoma raced out to a 52-12 halftime lead at home against Shorewood Dec. 29 and cruised to a 75-24 victory.

Sophomore Andrew Haug led Shorewood with six points.
