Knights win SunDome Classic

Avenging its only loss of the tournament, the King’s volleyball team defeated Kiona-Benton 25-11, 25-23 to win the 2A bracket at SunDome Classic on Sept. 11 in Yakima.

The Knights swept two games from Naches, Ephrata, Cascade of Leavenworth and Eisenhower JV and split with Kiona-Benton in pool play. King’s edged Chelan 25-21, 25-23 in the semifinals.

Ashley Strecker registered 97 assists, 28 digs and four aces at the tournament. Carissa Clark contributed 48 kills and eight aces, Kim Mayhle added 21 kills and six blocks, Emily Martin had 67 digs, 11 kills and two blocks, Kailey Trautmann had 27 kills and Kim Mayhle had 21 kills and six blocks.

Alex Keeney finished with 18 kills and five blocks, Chelsea Shapiro had a team-high 108 digs, Melisa Uvence had 71 digs and three aces and Jamie Hartman had 77 digs and eight aces.Rotary Run raises funds

The two Rotary Clubs of Shoreline hosted the fifth annual Shoreline Rotary Foundation Run on Sept. 11 at Shoreline Stadium. Winners in the men’s and women’s 10K run were Rockwell Moultan of Lake Forest Park (36:24) and Elizabeth Hutchinson of Seattle (43:55). Winners in the 5K run were Nathan Breyer of Burien (19:40) and Margaret Diddams of Shoreline (25:19).

Proceeds from the event support youth activities of the Shoreline Rotary Foundation, primarily scholarship grants for local high school seniors furthering their education in college.Shoreline Baseball Club tryouts

The Shoreline Baseball Club is having tryouts for the 2005 season this weekend at Shorewood High School. U13 players meet from 3-6 p.m. Sept. 19; U14 meets from 1:30 to 4 p.m. Sept. 18; U19 meets from noon-3 p.m. Sept. 19; and U16 players should contact Lorene Summers at 206-546-1115 ext. 1200.
