Shoreline CC women take second

The Shoreline Community College women’s basketball team finished second at an NWAACC crossover tournament last weekend hosted by Centralia.

Shoreline defeated Yakima Valley and Mt. Hood before falling to Big Bend 81-77 in the Dec. 14 championship game.

Amanda Merkley and Ebonee Newson were named to the all-tournament team for the Dolphins, who were scheduled to open league play last night against North Seattle.

YMCA seeks volunteers

The Shoreline/South County YMCA is seeking volunteers to work with preschool-age through teenage children in youth sports and after school programs. Teach valuable life skills to today’s youth through experiences emphasizing fair play, sportsman-ship and team-work, leadership, personal growth, service to others and social development.

For more information about volunteering in youth sports, teen activities or other YMCA programs, contact Phillipa Bell at 206-364-1700 or e-mail pbell@sh-seattleymca.org.
