JACKSON GRAD EARNS AWARD: Matt Stucke, a junior at the University of Mary in Bismarck, N.D., recently earned Dakota Athletic Conference (DAC) Scholar-Athlete honors. Stucke, a graduate of Jackson High School, is a defenseman on the Marauder men’s soccer team.

The University of Mary earned the DAC Academic Award for having the highest percentage of athletes earn student-athlete awards.

The honor goes to students with cumulative grade-point averages of 3.25 or better.

COATE PLAYS IN ALL-STAR GAME: Archbishop Murphy graduate Lauren Coate scored 15 points and 10 rebounds but the East all-stars defeated the West 91-68 in the annual Class 1A all-state basketball game last weekend in Spokane.

Sheena Hinkle of Liberty Bell hit four of five three-point attempts and scored 16 points, and MVP Jeni Boesel of Brewster had 15 points, eight rebounds, five assists and four steals for the East.

NW STREAM CENTER HOSTS WILDLIFE WORKSHOP: Seattle Audubon Society’s Neil Zimmerman presents a workshop on landscaping for wildlife workshop from 7 to 8:30 p.m. July 9 at the Adopt-A-Stream Foundation at the Northwest Stream Center. Workshop participants will learn about beneficial insects, alternatives to pesticides, the best plants for native Northwest gardening and the relationships between gardens and the birds that live there.
