Jones scores 13 points to help Washington win

Eryn Jones, a senior guard from Meadowdale, scored 13 points and tallied a team-high four assists April 5 in the Northwest Shootout all-star girls basketball game in Portland. Jones, a Portland State University recruit, made four of six field goals and was 4-for-4 on free throws, helping Washington beat Oregon 100-77.

Two ‘Cats selected for volleyball game

Archbishop Murphy’s Megan Robinson and Patti Reeves have been selected to play in the 23rd Annual Washington State Coaches Association All-State Volleyball Series on July 19 at Fife High School. Seniors from all over the state were nominated by coaches. The selection committee solicited inputs from the coaching community and reviewed nominations, comments from opposing coaches and stats in making their selections. Robinson and Reeves are the first Archbishop Murphy players to be selected for this annual event.

Also selected for the series were Erin Lauber of Edmonds-Woodway and Elyse Bunger (North Sound Christian).

Clampitt named to football roster

Meadowdale’s Jacob Clampitt has been selected to the annual Class 3A/4A East-West All-Star Football game. Clampitt earned first-team, all-league honors as a tight end. Clampitt also helped lead the Meadowdale basketball team to the state tournament.

Lynnwood hosts bowling tournament

The 11th Annual Teen Masters Tournament is underway in more than 50 bowling centers across the nation, and Washington’s Lynnwood Bowl &Skate will host both team and singles qualifying on April 26-27. In addition to competing for the title of ‘Best High School Bowler in the USA,’ teens of high school age and younger will be rolling for over $100,000 in scholarship awards, and the boy and girl champions will earn $10,000 each in scholarship awards.

The Lynnwood qualifying event will feature three qualifying competitions, each of which will advance bowlers to the Teen Masters National Championships in Las Vegas. New this year is the Teen Masters Kegel Kup which gives coed teams representing their high school or home bowling center a chance to earn additional scholarship awards and bragging rights as the best high school bowling team in the nation.

Two singles divisions, one for boys and one for girls, will give the top individuals their shot at national crowns.
