WRESTLING RHINOS: Registration night and the first practice for the Wrestling Rhinos, a youth wrestling club affiliated with USA Wrestling, is set for 5 p.m. Oct. 13 at the Lynnwood and Shorecrest high school wrestling rooms. Boys and girls in kindergarten through grade 8 are welcome to sign up for a season of collegiate-style wrestling. Practices will be from 6-7:30 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays at the above locations. No previous wrestling experience is needed.

Membership fees are $110 ($100 for each additional family member) and include supplementary insurance and a T-shirt. Parents need to attend the registration with their wrestler and bring a copy of the wrestler’s birth certificate. SOFTBALL TRYOUTS: The U16A Washington MsStix are looking to fill their roster with dedicated college-prep athletes for an ambitious 2004 season.  Tryouts are noon-2:30 p.m. Sept. 27 at Mountlake Terrace High School. CYCLING DEMO: The City of Lynnwood Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Department and Skiforall Foundation present a Skiforall Adaptive Cycling Demonstration from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27 at Lynndale Park (18927 72nd Ave. W., Lynnwood). BEGINNER HOCKEY: The Seattle Junior Hockey Association will begin its winter ice schedule the first week of October. The beginner program, for boys and girls ages 5-8, has a few remaining positions available for the 2003-04 season. No experience required. INDOOR SOCCER: Boys and girls in preschool through fourth grade can sign up for the Shoreline/South County YMCA’s indoor soccer program this fall. Trained volunteer coaches teach players the fundamentals. Programs emphasize fair play, sportsmanship and teamwork. Registration is open until spaces are filled. BASKETBALL TRYOUTS: A girls U13 select basketball team is having tryouts in the Edmonds/Lynnwood/Shoreline area. Information: Colleen Brown, 425-673-2235.

MARTIAL ARTS: Students with special challenges are invited to learn adaptive forms of martial arts at the Shoreline/South County YMCA. Children ages 6 and up can register. Instruction emphasis on challenged students, but students of all abilities are welcome. Instructor Cheryl Wieser is a national and international gold medal winner. GOLF TOURNEY: The 2003 Run to Win Golf Classic will be Sept. 29 at Harbour Point Golf Club. The annual tournament raises funds for Run to Win sports camps and special events, as well as team chapel programs with the University of Washington football and women’s basketball teams, the Seattle Sonics and the Seattle Mariners.
