FASTPITCH TRYOUTS: The Everett Elite U16 girls fastpitch team is looking for competitive players for its 2003 roster. This is a new team and the specific need is for pitchers, but other positions are also open. Tryouts will be at 5:30 p.m. on Jan. 26 at the Everett Armory, 2730 Oakes Ave. in Everett. JACKSON JILLS: The Jackson Jills women’s golf club plays on Thursday mornings at Jackson Park Golf Course (1000 NE. 135th, Shoreline) from March through October. AAU GIRLS HOOPS: The 15th annual AAU girls basketball spring league will run March through June. Teams will be fielded in grades 4-9. Information: 425-670-8877 or www.washingtongirlsbasketball.com.

WOMEN IN SPORTS: The sixth annual women in sports conference is scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 4 at Shoreline Center. The conference runs from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. and features several sessions on issues of athleticism as it relates directly to young women.

Registration is $20 for adults and $16 for students if pre-registered on or before Jan. 31. After Jan. 31, registration fees increase $5.

Covered topics include: building character through athletics; history of women’s athletics; NCAA clearinghouse issues; sports medicine for the female athlete; current health issues for the female athlete; and marketing yourself for college.

BASKETBALL CLASSES: Advantage Basketball will be conducting basketball classes on Wednesday and Friday nights. Information: 425-670-8877.

FASTPITCH SIGNUPS: Alderwood Fastpitch Softball offers fastpitch softball opportunities for girls ages 5-18 in the Lynnwood, Mountlake Terrace, Alderwood Manor, and Brier areas. Registration is set from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the following dates: Jan. 25, Feb. 1 and Feb. 2. All registration will be at the Alderwood Manor Youth Club, 19719 24th Ave. W. in Lynnwood.
