Hyundai enters the small SUV segment with the introduction of the all-new Tucson, which complements the larger Santa Fe sport utility.
The 2005 Tucson is offered with two engine choices: Hyundais high-tech 2.0-liter four-cylinder or the all-new 2.7-liter V6. The four-cylinder mates to either a five-speed manual transmission or an available four-speed automatic with Shiftronic control, while the V6 is available only with the automatic shifter. Four-wheel drive is available with either engine in the form of a state-of-the-art Borg-Warner Electronic InterActive Torque Management system.
The Tucson is designed to deliver a high level of utility in a stylish, athletic-appearing package. Tucson comes in three trim levels: the four-cylinder base model and more upscale GLS and LX, which both have the V6.
Tucsons interior is spacious and well configured, delivering plenty of room and comfort for both passengers and their gear. The durable interior has fold-flat rear seats, as well as a folding front passenger seat. A removable rear mat exposes an easy-to-clean floor surface with multiple tie-down locations.
Standard equipment includes four-wheel disc brakes with four-channel ABS, electronic brake-force distribution, traction control, electronic stability program, power windows and door locks, remote keyless entry, and a host of other amenities and safety features. Several options are available to satisfy different individual appearance and entertainment requirements.
