Start the long holiday weekend with some musical fireworks at the Hometown Hootenanny, 7:30 p.m. July 2 at the Historic Everett Theatre. The live music show celebrates America’s birthday with “A Star-Spangled Songfest,” an evening of country-style tunes that inspire toe-tapping and flag-waving.

The Hometown Band, led by vocalist Jeremy Randall and featuring local musicians Mark Hibbert, Dave McCabe, Larry Greenleaf and Buck Hammock, will be joined by world-class fiddler Jon Parry and keyboardist Dave Townsend. The also features 13-year-old Dakota Neuman, a Monroe crowd-pleaser who already has dozens of public performances on his resumé. Emcee Michael McFadden also promises to have an entertaining trick or two up his sleeve.

The band and guests will perform a list of patriotic tunes that range from standards like “God Bless America” to the more contemporary tunes like “An American Soldier” and “Letters from Home.”

In the spirit of patriotism, Hometown Hootenanny is offering two-for-the-price-of-one tickets to active duty military personnel and veterans.
