Pulitzer Prize-winning columnist Dave Barry and co-author Ridley Pearson will be making two local stops this week in conjunction with the release of their new children’s fiction book, “Peter and the Starcatchers.” Third Place Books in Lake Forest Park hosts the authors for a book signing at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 19, followed by an appearance at the Costco in Shoreline at 5 p.m. Monday, Sept. 20.

Barry and Pearson have teamed up to tell the story that precedes J.M. Barrie’s children’s classic, “Peter Pan.” Aboard the ship Never Land is a secret — a magic dust with the power to heal and the ability to make people fly. An orphan boy named Peter and his friend Molly must keep the secret out of the wrong hands in order to save the world from evil. “Peter and the Starcatchers” is recommended for readers age 9 to 12.

Barry is the nationally syndicated columnist for the Miami Herald and aothor of numerous books including “Dave Barry Slept Here” and “Big Trouble.” Pearson is the best selling author of “The Body of David Hayes,” “The Middle of Nowhere,” “The Pied Piper,” “Undercurrents” and several other novels.

Third Place Books is located in Lake Forest Park Towne Centre, 17171 Bothell Way NE in Lake Forest Park. Costco is located at 1175 N. 205th Street in Shoreline, on the border of Snohomish and King counties. For more information on the Third Place Books event, call 206-366-3333.
