Students collect books for foster kids

Students at Shoreline Christian School collected more than 20 boxes of books for area foster children this Christmas.

The effort was part of Bethany Christian Service’s Fostering Education program. Movers from Two Men and a Truck volunteered time to pick up the books Dec. 6 for delivery to Bethany’s Seattle offices.

Terrace students give to food bank

A crew of 16 Mountlake Terrace High School students on Dec. 6 loaded up the Concern for Neighbors Food Bank truck with donated food.

Students at the high school donated a total of 5,887 pounds of nonperishable food items. The group of students that worked to load the food into the food bank vehicle followed the truck to the food bank and unloaded the cargo.

LHS tops in text votes in rock contest

Lynnwood High School’s band won $1,000 for receiving the most text votes in its division, determined by school size, in The Rock Wood Fired Pizza and Spirits Battle of the Bands contest.

South Kitsap High School took home the top $10,000 prize.

The contest had high school bands perform a rock ‘n’ roll classic and submit a video recording for consideration by a panel of judges.
