The following students are Shoreline Rotary’s students of the month for October.
King’s
Caitlyn Faidley
A four-sport student, Caitlyn Faidley has achieved great things on the courts, fields and tracks in the area, as well as her accomplishments in school. She was elected to serve as the Associated Student Body president for her senior year and has also served on class councils and Cascade Interhigh. This year, she is King’s senior representative to Cascade Interhigh and is on the executive council. Faidley has lettered in soccer, basketball and track and also plays varsity volleyball this year. She received the leadership award during her junior year and has volunteered at least 40 hours a year for various organizations.
Jamie Hartman
Jamie Hartman serves the school and community in a number of ways. She is currently the Associated Student Body’s vice president of activities and has also participated on Link Crew, class council and was a Natural Helper. During her time at King’s, Hartman has taken advanced math courses, Advanced Placement English and has been on High Honor Roll the past three years. She’s participated in varsity track and volleyball, this year serving as the volleyball captain. Hartman has been on two 10-day mission trips to an orphanage in Mexico, volunteered at Children’s Hospital and helped coach a volleyball team for elementary and junior high-age girls. After graduating, she plans to attend a Christian college to study business management or prepare to go into long-term mission work.
Shorecrest
Chandra LeFevre
Chandra LeFevre loves to play soccer, holds a third-degree black belt in tae kwon do and will be playing on Shorecrest’s tennis team for her fourth year this spring. She has played bagpipes in two local pipe bands for almost four years, in addition to playing the tenor saxophone. LeFevre was recently awarded a silver Regents Scholarship to Washington State University, where she plans to dual major in zoology and neuroscience, hoping to go on to become a veterinarian. This summer, she worked at a National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration facility on Lake Washington. She is a Girl Scout Ambassador as well as the student representative to the Shoreline School Board for Shorecrest. She is a Link Crew leader, a position that helps incoming freshmen adjust to new surroundings in high school, and a National Honor Society member.
Shorewood
Michael Erickson
Michael Erickson is a senior at Shorewood High School. He has participated in the cross country and ultimate Frisbee teams for three years each and is captain of both this year. He also plays viola in the Chamber Ensemble and is a proud member of the Math Club, SERVE Club and the Gay-Straight Alliance. This year he is acting Associated Student Body President for Shorewood. Erickson is taking two Advanced Placement classes this year, took four AP classes last year and has taken numerous honors classes in previous years, all while maintaining a grade-point average of above 3.8. He is a National Merit Semifinalist.
Outside of school Erickson is an active member of Calvin Presbyterian Church and has traveled to the Yucatan peninsula twice and San Francisco once on youth mission trips. He loves making movies, writing music and hanging out with friends.
