The following are the Edmonds School District high school students of the month for November.

Edmonds-Woodway

Derry Betts

Parents’ names: Brandon and Carol Betts

GPA: 3.6

Honors: 2002 student body class officer

Community service: Cleared trails for Washington Trails Association, volunteered at the Edmonds Arts Festival

Sports: Cross country and track; Edmonds district champion, 1st team Wesco South, All-state team 2003 and 2004; placed sixth at state in 2004, among other awards

Future plans: Earn a degree in architecture or computer science

Emma Brewster

Parents’ names: David Brewster and Mary Kay Sneeringer

GPA: 3.95

Clubs: Students for Democracy, sophomore class appointed officer, National Honor Society

Honors: Full International Baccalaureate candidate, National Merit Semi-Finalist

Community service: Tutor, volunteers at Ultimate Frisbee camp

Sports: Soccer (captain), Ultimate Frisbee

Future plans: Attend a four-year liberal arts institution

Lynnwood

Ryan Murray

Parents’ names: Steven and Elizabeth Murray

Honors: AP Scholar with Honors, National Merit Commended Scholar, received awards in math, science and music, Boy Scouts of America Eagle Scout

Future plans: Attain a master’s degree and possibly become a computer engineer

Rachel Patterson
