Randy Dorn, the newly-elected Washington State Superintendent of Public Instruction, will lead a panel discussion with the community about “educational enhancement during a time of economic distress” beginning at 7 p.m. in the Shoreline Room of the Shoreline Conference Center on Jan. 29.
Others on the panel will be Tom Mesaros, President/CEO of The Alford Group, one of the five largest fund raising consulting firms in the U.S., and Frank Minton, nationally prominent executive in planned giving and endowment programs. The event is free and open to the public.
“We’re thrilled to launch this discussion and to have these prominent officials help guide our community with this issue,” Ken Noreen, a retired educator and Founding Chairman of the Shoreline Education Alliance said. “Other than basic personal safety, there is no greater duty we have to our children than to provide them the best possible education, from early learning right up through trade schools and college.”
The event is presented by the Shoreline Education Alliance and co-sponsored by Shoreline Public Schools and various Rotary clubs in the area. The Shoreline Education Alliance is a new program of the Education Committee of Forward Shoreline and is designed to bring education providers and consumers together to plan for the education needs of Shoreline for the next 25 years. This ongoing program includes both private and public schools, as well as citizens who understand that “education” is now a life-long learning process.
“We hope that everyone interested in education will turn out for this meeting. The economy is forcing some very tough choices on us that we need to discuss with one another,” Noreen added.
