Shattered glass covered the floor of the Jo-Ann Fabric store in Shoreline on May 8 after a woman drove an SUV through the front windows of the store.

A female shopping at the store was hit by debris from the crash at 11:30 a.m. according to Melanie Granfors, spokeswoman for the Shoreline Fire Department.

“The female inside was hit by falling debris, suffered bumps and bruises and was taken to the hospital,” she said.

The driver and one passenger were uninjured.

The incident is being called an accidental acceleration, Granfors said. Police believe the driver hit the gas instead of the brakes as she tried to leave a parking spot in front of the store.

Jo-Ann Fabric is located at Aurora Avenue North and 152nd Street.
