The weather’s shaping up for a fine evening of music, games, inflatables, face painting and food July 26 as the City of Shoreline and the Shoreline-Lake Forest Park Arts Council present their annual Swingin’ Summer Eve community celebration.
The setting is Cromwell Park, and the festivities begin at 5:30 p.m. Games and activities for children will be staged in the wide open field at Cromwell Park. The Shoreline Fire Department will once again be firing up their grill and serving barbeque for a nominal fee, as a fundraiser for the Shoreline Firefighter’s Association.
At 7 p.m. the evening really gets rolling when Rainy City Riff Raff take to the Showmobile stage. An eight piece, swinging variety band, Riff Raff features three horns, four rhythm, and a stellar female vocalist. The music is a lively mix of upbeat favorites from from the Big Band era to right around yesterday: swing, jump blues, rock n’ roll, latin, soul, jazz, pop, and the occasional campy surprise.
