T-birds’ pom team is No. 1

Shorewood High School’s pom team took first place in the Class 4A Washington Interscholastic Activities Association Dance and Drill Championships March 24 at the Yakima SunDome.

The Thunderbirds scored 291.5 points out of 300, their highest point total ever, for a superior rating (270 points and above) against 18 pom teams.

Shorewood, which won the drill competition at state last year, finished second this year in that event. The T-birds, undefeated in competitions during the regular season, won District 1 championships in both drill and pom March 4 in Bellingham.

Team members for both pom and drill are: Lizzy Abolofia, Khrystyn Aranez, Mona Atallah, Paige Brooks, Crystal Bugai, Tiffany Buley, Kristei Butay, Sam Croffut, Courtney Donohue, Amanda Dykes, Allegra Easton, Megan Ferris, Keisha Freitas, Brie Fulghum-Behen, Stefanie Fuller, Anna Gildow, Amber Gruger, Cathy Han, Mandy Hansen, Carolyn Haynie, Christine Haynie, Christine Hwang, Amber Ihli, Meaghan Kapinos, Emily Kim, Laura Klein, Cassie Lee, Katie MacCamy, Elle MacGeorge, Emma McAdams, Arianna McInnes, Kaitlyn Pettersen, Angelica Rilveria, Emily Ross, Margaux Rotter, Kindred Springer, Shawna Stewart, Kristin Thornton, Ronni Tikka, Gina Troung, Heather Turner and Katie Weaver.

Captains are Laura Klein and Shawna Stewart. Head coach Kathy Ross is assisted by Laura Kinzel, Travis Groom and Tiffany Bliss.
