Summer is finally underway and Mountlake Terrace is celebrating with its 12th Tour de Terrace festivities, on now through Sunday, July 31.
The Seafair-sanctioned event features the best of summer festival fare: a carnival, live entertainment, 5K and Kids Fun Run, pancake breakfast, classic car show, beer garden and a Friday evening parade through the city center of Mountlake Terrace.
Most events take place at Evergreen Playfield, located at 56th Avenue W. and 224th Street.
The festival carnival at Evergreen Playfield opened July 27 and will continue throughout the weekend. Carnival hours are 1 p.m. to 11 p.m. Friday, July 29 and 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, July 30 and 31. Inflatables, a train ride and putt putt golf are offered in addition to traditional carnival rides. Craft and food booths are open throughout the weekend, and a beer garden will open at 4 p.m. Friday and continue service through 11 p.m., with weekend hours from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday.
The Tour de Terrace Parade officially kicks off the celebration at 7 p.m. Friday, July 30, preceded at 6:45 p.m. with a return performance of the Seattle Police Motorcyle Drill Team. Entertainment throughout the afternoon and evening includes performances by The Republic and Shambala.
The Lions Club Pancake Breakfast gets the weekend’s activities off to an early start from 8 a.m. to noon both Saturday, July 30 and Sunday, July 31 at Evergreen Playfield. The 12th Annual Tour de Terrace Custom Car, Hot Rod and Motorcycle Show takes place from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, July 30 at the festival site. Admission is free to festival-goers who are invited to view the vehicles on display and vote for the People’s Choice Award; a $10 registration fee is required for show participants. Also on the schedule Saturday is the returning Battle of the High School Bands event. The Last Chapter, Hungarian Freedom Fighters, Testudo and Rumor Has It perform on the mainstage from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Afternoon and evening music offerings include the Mark Rainey Band, Sea Monkees, the Flashbacks and Tracy Alan Moore as “Elvis” with Rising Sun. A fireworks display at 10 p.m. will top off Saturday night’s entertainment.
The pancake breakfast continues from 8 a.m. to noon Sunday, July 31. Sunday’s events also feature a “Community in Unity” church service from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. and an afternoon of music with Free Reign, Crossroads Band and Northest legends Little Bill and the Blue Notes (featuring Mountlake Terrace resident “Little Bill” Engelhart).
