A Jackson High School Technology Student Association team placed fourth in the Web design competition at the Technology Student Association’s National Conference June 20-24 in Nashville, Tenn.
Students Corey Abel, Robbie Manhas, Chris Kendrick, Andrew Eder and Bill Britt were advised by faculty members Margaret Thorleifson and Rick Wigre.
The team competed with more than 4,000 students to receive the recognition. The students had to design and implement Web pages for its school TSA club and present its research on the future of hydrogen power. They were one of only 10 teams from Washington to place in the top 10 at nationals.
The students from Jackson also performed well at the Washington State TSA Conference in March, earning several awards and recognitions. Abel won first place for promotional graphics, Britt and Kendrick won first for computer systems trouble shooting, Abel won second place for computer animation, Eder received third place for promotional graphics, and the Web design team that performed well at nationals received a first-place recognition at state.
TSA is a 200,000-member organization whose goal is to promote technological literacy and leadership.
