The Jackson Timberwolves boys golf team opened up their golf season with a big win on a big stage.

Jackson had four golfers finish in the top 15 and the Timberwolves won the 15-team sixth annual Tom Dolan Memorial Golf Tournament March 26 at Everett Golf &Country Club.

“I had no expectations – this was our first match. I had no measure other than practice,” Jackson coach Michael Tong said.

Kamiak’s Dylan Goodwin posted a tournament record 8-under-par 64, besting the prior record of 68 set last season by Jackson’s Sean Fitzpatrick.

Fitzpatrick finished fourth this time with a 73 and the Timberwolves had four golfers shoot below 80.

Jackson’s Chris Vargas (74), Jeff Neeley (78) and Ryan Young (78) also finished below 80.

As a team Jackson shot a 303, besting runner-up Snohomish (306) and Kamiak (307).

“I thought it was real solid play, we showed a lot of promise. This is a good indicator of what we’re capable of,” Tong said.

Monroe’s Matt Eptstein took second in the tournament with a 71 and Snohomish’s Dylan Stensland finished with a 72.
