Shoreline Community College gets fall quarter underway with Seattle native Patti Bezzo’s series of acrylic paintings, “Time of Trees,” on display in the college’s gallery from Sept. 3 to Nov. 3.
Bezzo’s large format intensely colored paintings are strongly influenced by working in fruit orchards along the Yakima and Columbia Rivers. Living out of the back of her pickup truck, she spent much of her free time sketching the countryside. Bezzo describes orchard work as hard, satisfying and sensual, and those early sketches inspired many of her recent paintings and pastels.
A Meet the Artist and Talk event with Bezzo is scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday Oct. 14. The gallery, located in room 1000 in the college’s administration building, is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Shoreline Community College is located at 16101 Greenwood Ave. N. in Shoreline.
