I would like to take a moment to reflect on an interview recently conducted by Think Progress with Seymour Hersh, the award-winning investigative reporter for New Yorker Magazine. I saw no mention of this interview in your pages.
Mr. Hersh has reported that Bush Administration officials held a meeting in Vice President Dick Cheney’s office in which they discussed several ways to provoke a war with Iran.
Quoting Hersh, “There was a dozen ideas proffered about how to trigger a war. The one that interested me the most was why don’t we build — we in our shipyard — build four or five boats that look like Iranian PT boats. Put Navy seals on them with a lot of arms. And next time one of our boats goes to the Straits of Hormuz, start a shoot-up.”
I am flabbergasted that we have Bush Administration officials plotting to start another war which the United States cannot afford. But clearly the more sinister message from this interview is that the Bush Administration is willing to create a “false flag” attack in order to scare the American citizens to support this war.
Many smart Americans — doctors, lawyers and engineers like myself — believe that the attacks of 9/11 were also “false flag” attacks designed to push Americans into supporting the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The Bush Administration continues their treasonous ways, deceiving Americans to support additional wars of conquest that we cannot afford. Our sons and daughters die for the ambitions of a few men. The time has come to demand impeachment of Bush and Cheney and a new investigation into the attacks of 9/11.
