Tracey interested in bettering community

Only once have I written a letter to the editor. It was in response to a published letter demeaning the role and the skills needed to be an effective school board member. I had just retired after 12 years on the Shoreline School Board, and felt obligated to put people straight on the importance of that role and the need for qualified, collaborative and sensible school board members. I feel the same way about the members of the Shoreline City Council.

It is essential that we have council members with strong ethics, strong community commitment and a desire to work collaboratively with other council members. Shari Tracey represents those qualities very well.

Shari understands the role and responsibility of a city council member and will enhance the quality and effectiveness of the council as a whole. She is beholden to no one; her interest is for the betterment of the overall community. She established her community support and proved her leadership skills through her prior commitment to the Park Board and as co-chair of the parks bond committee.

She has been a solid supporter of seniors in our community. She attended a funding conference in 2008 on behalf of Senior Services and has been a consistent contributor to the Shoreline-Lake Forest Park Senior Center. It was through Shari’s efforts that the senior center received a substantial contribution from Bob Ferguson’s office.

To be responsible citizens, we must take the time to become informed and cast our vote in the November election. I’ve done my homework. My vote goes to Shari Tracey.
