Trinity Lutheran Church’s “Artists at the Organ” series concludes its 12th season May 6 with a concert by Dr. Carole Terry, Professor of Organ at the University of Washington on the church’s Pasi organ.
Her program will include the music of the three “Bs” of the organ world, Bach, Buxtehude and Brahms.
Professor of Organ and Harpsichord at the University of Washington, Dr. Terry is a highly respected and popular recitalist, pedagogue and adjudicator. Frequently in demand in these capacities, she travels extensively throughout the United States, Europe and the Far East participating in major festivals, academies, competitions and conventions, including the Attersee Barock Akademie in Austria, the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival in Liibeck, Germany, the International Summer School for Young Organists; in Oundle, England, the Mikael Tariverdiev International Organ Competition in Kaliningrad, and the International Musachino Organ Competition in Tokyo, Japan.
As resident organist and curator for the Seattle Symphony from 2000 to 2003, Terry took part in the inauguration of the new Fisk organ housed in Seattle’s acclaimed Benaroya Hall and played many recitals and solo concerti with the orchestra.
Trinity’s organ was especially designed and built for the Lynnwood church by Martin Pasi Organ Builders of Roy, Wash. and installed in 1995. The 29-stop, two manual, mechanical action instrument is encased in a freestanding Italianate black walnut case.
