Trinity Lutheran Church’s “Artists at the Organ” series begins its 11th season at 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 9, with organist Christa Rakich.
Concert and recording artist Rakich is co-chair of the organ department at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston and is artist in residence at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Brookline, Mass. She has won prizes at several international competitions. Her performing career has taken her throughout the United States and Europe.
Performing for the Seattle National Convention of the American Guild of Organists in 2000, a reviewer said of that performance, “Rakich’s performance and playing ability were exquisitely matched to the justly famous Flentrop at St. Mark’s Cathedral, Seattle. She seemed to innately sense the length of phrasefor the magnificent acoustic of this formidable box of a room.” Her program will include works by J. S. Bach, Buxtehude and her own improvisation.
The organ was especially designed and built for Trinity by Martin Pasi Organ Builders of Roy, Wash. and installed in 1995. The 29 stop, two manual, mechanical action instrument is encased in an Italianate, freestanding black walnut case.
Suggested donation is $10 or pay as able. Trinity Lutheran Church is located at 6215 196th Street SW in Lynnwood.
