The Trolley Days Jazz Band invites the community to get into the swing of things as they present a special concert Friday, April 23 at Edmonds Community College, part of the city of Lynnwood’s Fantastic Fridays performance series.
The Lynnwood based Trolley Days Jazz Band was formed in 1997 as an outgrowth of the city’s former community festival. The group has continued on independently and currently has 45 active members ranging in age from 12 to 82.
The only band of its kind in Snohomish County, there are no auditions and no dues and they offer free performances to the public. Members of the band host a mentor program for young musicians during the summer months. Trolley Days Band was voted best local band in Island and Snohomish Counties by readers of the The Herald newspaper in 2002.
The Trolley Days Jazz Band, conducted by Tim Leese, performs at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 23 at Edmonds Community College’s Triton Union Building, 2nd Floor, 20200 68th Ave. W. in Lynnwood. Performances are free with a suggested donation of $3 for adults, $2 for children. Seating is limited; tickets are available at the door. Fantastic Fridays performances are sponsored in part by the City of Lynnwood Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Department, Lynnwood Arts Commission, Edmonds Community College Student Programs, Jack Carroll’s Lynnwood Dodge and a grant from the Washington State Arts Commission.
