Try Art Walk for gift shopping

With the final shopping days winding down before Christmas, the Edmonds Art Walk Thursday, Dec. 17 offers visitors a unique opportunity to give the gift of art this holiday season.

Live music highlights this month include pianist Amy Halberstadt at Soma Salon, the Andy Carr holiday sing-along at the Edmonds Conference Center, Aleena Wolfe’s Christmas caroling at Autumn’s Framing and live instrumental music at Red Twig. Live music at The Loft is set from 8 p.m.

Artist demonstrations include “Michelangelo’s Italy” at Rick Steves’ from 6 to 7 p.m., Quick Draw portraits at Comstock Jewelers and watercolors at Autumns’ Framing. Aria Studio Gallery also hosts watercolor demonstrations by Joan Archer at 6:30 and 7:30 p.m.

Other highlights during December’s Art Walk include fanciful wine dogs and wine cats on canvas by Susan Rene, who will also be on hand to sign her prints, at Arista Wine Cellars. At ArtsNow Gallery in the Edmonds Conference Center, Fabric of Life Quilts made by the Contemporary QuiltArt Association and the Pacific Northwest African American Quilters are featured. Owner Autumn Kegley’s richly colored paintings of human spirituality through dance are on display Autumn’s Framing and Gallery Bluefish Designs hosts Leslie Horton’s colorful lino block prints.

C’est La Vie exhibits colorful, beaded hand-crafted boxes presented by Widhya Asih Orphanage representative Pat Taylor. Coldwell Banker Bain will highlight Sandi Hansen’s Christmas watercolors, inspired by photos from mid 1900’s, plus a “Last Minute Gift Bazaar.” At Cole Gallery and Artist Supplies, Mark Boyle’s paintings of Northwest beaches at night are featured. Comstock Jewelers will present Kristine Henshaw’s oil paintings and Quick Draw portraits, while at Designer Consignor, metalsmith Kiraya Kestin’s jewelry, created from metals, fossils, plexiglas, and gemstones, is on display.

Edmonds Bookshop hosts Elaine Mattson’s photographs of Hawaii and Edmonds, including some holiday cards. On view at Edmonds Frame Design and Atelier will be the photography of Vicki Hone-Smith.

December’s Edmonds Library gallery exhibit, “Art and Healing,” acrylic works by Mary Ann Hall can Joanne Osband, will be open during the art walk. Edward Jones will showcase the works of native Yugoslavian Gordana Curgus. At Fabric of Life, see the works of ceramic artists from Pottery Northwest, and Festivities will feature various artists.

The Frances Anderson Center will be open for visitors to view two and three dimensional works from the Edmonds Arts Festival Museum Collection. Gallery North’s “Coastal Wanderings” show by Kim Caldwell will be showcased. Garden Gear will have the cut steel sculptures by award-winning watercolor artist Susan Fisher Regert. Colleen Lambert unveils some new oils at Housewares.

At Interiors of Edmonds visitors can enjoy refreshments while viewing art. J Rankin Jewelers displays work by Whidbey Island photographer Earl Olsen. Manya Vee Selects will feature handpainted silk scarves, and 3-D aluminum ornaments by Birgit and Dieter Moenig. Mu.shoe hosts watercolor paintings by Shan Koenig. Budding young local artists will be on display at Ombu Salon. Red Twig spotlights Arturo Torres’ new sepia-toned photographs. Reliable Floor Coverings hosts Katherine Todd’s paintings. Resident Cheesemonger will exhibit Alexandra Knight’s new works in photography. Running In Motion has Darlene Lucas’ water media based paintings. Semantics Gallery hosts Bon Vernarelli &Larry Ostler’s lapidary &metalwork.

Soma Salon hosts D.E. Miller’s European photography; Leigh Young’s Pandemonium Millinery features her unique creations. Stone Veneers Limited highlights Steven Hopkins’ photography. At The Gregory, Judith Heim’s Peace Cranes, Patricia Helser’s reversible upholstery bags and Audrey Wilde’s Cookie Lee Jewelry are on display.
