Tsunami relief

A number of local groups, agencies and individuals are accepting aid contributions to benefit the victims of the Dec. 26 earthquake and tsunami in Southeast Asia. Here are some contact numbers:

Edmonds

Old Milltown: A donation drop-off point has been set up by merchants at Old Milltown, 201 5th Avenue in Edmonds. To donate money, food or clothes to victims of the recent tsunami and earthquake in Asia, make your donations there, or call Dedek Marulitua at 425-771-5477, or send checks addressed to The Red Cross to 201 Fifth Ave., Edmonds, Wash., 98020.

Alderwood helps Red Cross

Alderwood mall has teamed up with the American Red Cross to help raise funds for those affected by Dec. 26 tsunami that swept across South Asia.

Beginning today, Friday, Jan. 14, Alderwood will display tsunami relief donation sites throughout the mall. Each freestanding donation site will have remittance envelopes for customers who want to donate to the American Red Cross International Response Fund. The funds are mailed directly to the Red Cross.

Donations can also be made online at www.alderwoodmall.com and click on the American Red Cross link.

Schools lend a hand

Schools across the Edmonds, Everett and Shoreline school districts are organizing and managing their own coin and donation drives to benefit families in need. To inquire about specific schools or to donate to their drives, contact the school or the school district offices directly.
