Two Jackson bowlers head to state

Jackson’s Jamie Ellis and Baiba Rubenis advanced to this week’s Class 4A state girls bowling tournament.

Ellis bowled a 164 and Baiba finished with 162 at the district tournament last weekend.

The state tournament is scheduled for Feb. 2-3 at Lynnwood Lanes.

Friday’s events will feature team and individual competition with a total of 112 bowlers competing for the individual state titles in 2A/3A and 4A. Competition is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. on Friday with individual awards scheduled for 5:30 p.m.

This year’s team tournament will feature 16 teams competing on Friday and Saturday. Eight teams will compete for the 2A/3A championship and eight teams will compete for the 4A championship. Competition will begin at 10 a.m. on Friday and will continue at 8 a.m. on Saturday. Team awards are scheduled for 11:30 a.m. on Saturday.

Tickets will be sold at the door and are $8 for adults and $6 for students and seniors for a one-day ticket and $13 for adults and $10 for students and seniors for a two-day ticket.
