Use new technology for better transit

The $17.9 billion Sound Transit requested is unbelievable and wrong. ST has not had one estimate of their previous promises come to pass. A look at numerous 21st-century transit systems could build up to 1,800 miles of higher capacity, convenient (no wait service) transit system. These systems are being installed around the world. I beg of you to investigate (free on the Web) the future and report back.

Shoreline is a leader in solar power. Shoreline Community College even teaches classes in it. New century technology transit will be powered by solar during daylight hours, making it incredibly green. A factory to build track and vehicles could be in Shoreline or Edmonds building five to 100 miles of guideway (employing hundreds — or thousands) per year. Capacity would be the equivalent of three freeway lanes. Finally, after a year or two, each system would be making a profit, thus costing the taxpayer nothing, and bringing in a source of revenue for the city.

Check out the center of the July Popular Science for many examples.
